Briefly I'm going to explain the 5 benefits you can have when decide to build a Hybrid App.

Before we start, let's explain what it is, why it's called that way and the difference with a Native App.

I will try my best to explain it at the highest level and help you understand the concept of Hybrid App.

What is a Hybrid App?

Hybrid App are developed using web technologies and the integration of packages to extend the capabilities and functionalities. Is a combination of website and native tools.

It's called Hybrid App based on what I mentioned before. Web programming knowledge, applying it to mobile application structure and access extended functionalities. Is like programming a website but with the mobile applications layouts.

A notable difference:

  • Hybrid App: one project can be distributed to Android and iOS
  • Native App: we need to develop two projects: one for Android and the other for iOS

This doesn't mean Native Apps are a bad choice. We just need to be aware of their difference and that each one has a use depending on the scenario.

Moving now to the core of this blog post 😄.

The benefits...

1. One application that can be distributed to other platforms (Android and iOS)

This benefit of building only one project let's move quickly the project to the market and required less resources. Having mentioned this, it's give a sense of what probably are going to be the coming benefits.

2. Cost Effective

In comparing to Native apps that you need to develop two projects. For example, one for Android and the other for iOS. Is only one project that has to be build. Less that have to be develope.

3. Easier Maintenance

Is easier to make changes to Hybrid Apps. By easier I don't mean like is piece a cake 🤣. Is the way of how it works and how allow developers to build in a faster pace. Is pretty much like updating a website.

4. Scalability

If we want to integrate functionalities that requires access to cellphone features, like the camera, we can access it. Hybrid Apps community is growing and this means more capacity. By I mean by this is the ability to integrate a variety of cellphone capabilties into the mobile app. The flexibility to integrate new features, the access to extended capabilities, and the simplified maintenance it's have compared to native apps, facilitates the scalability for business.

5. Faster Deployment

Planning and implementation is easier compared to Native Applications. As I mentioned in the benefit #1, it's allow us to move faster to the market.

And that's all.
